WEEK 3
Humans can’t escape from the ups and downs of life. Trials and tribulations will take place in every human being’s life. What decides whether you get through it or fail to overcome them is your will and resolution. For me, my goals are what motivates me and keep me going. Though my long-term goal is to become successful in life, I decided to live in the moment and do my best at everything even if that something is not what I desire now because no one knows what the future has in store for us. Maybe what I despise now will become my strength later on in life. For my short-term goal, I have set them to achieve 4.0 CGPA because I wanted to make my parents proud as they are my everything. Also, earning a 4.0 CGPA would allow me to have a better chance at getting into the university of my choice when I want to pursue my degree later. As my long-term goal is to be successful in life, achieving my short-term goal is the first stop on my road to success and I will only stop trying when there is no hope left for me.
Procrastination is what keeps me from accomplishing my goals. By procrastinating, there are times when I forgot my homeworks or assignments. That’s the reason why I had a hard time managing my time wisely. I am aware that procrastinating could seriously brought disaster upon me. One of the steps I’ve taken to try to abandon this bad habit is to keep track of my homework and assignments by making a checklist. Since making a checklist enables me to organize my works, I find myself being unhurried in completing my work since I know the deadlines of everything. I hope I can keep this up throughout the duration of my studies since living life on the edge is not always beneficial to anyone or even to myself.
WEEK 4
One of my plans in the future is to pursue my degree in UPM majoring in English Language. The reason for that is because I had a good impression on UPM due to my mother and older sister being an UPM graduate. Because of that, I am already familiar with the area surrounding UPM. Furthermore, by majoring in English Language, I would have a wider path into the workforce as language and linguistics is an important part of communication and graduates majoring in those are in high demand.

WEEK 5
Citation has always been emphasized by lecturers, researchers and many high-profiled figures. The importance of citation can’t be denied due to various reasons such as to circumvent plagiarism or to show your readers that you have done your research. By having citations, you are displaying your integrity and by doing so, you could illustrate your credibility and professionalism. Thus, your reader is more likely to put their trust in you and have confidence in you. In addition, having citations could sow a good relationship with other researchers and open up the opportunity for collaborations in the future. Furthermore, if there is any instance where you need assistance in the future, asking for help would be a lot easier when you have a good relationship with someone who has experience in writing academic papers.

The reason for why we must not plagiarize is that because plagiarism is a form of theft. By stealing other people’s work, you are not acknowledging that they have worked hard to produce their work and they could sue you for that. Next, plagiarism is unethical because you would profit from other’s hard work. I am sure the feeling of guilt would gnaw at your conscience and you would bear that guilt for the rest of your life.

My notes, as you can see, is pretty simple and messy. The doodles on the side of the page is the result of getting distracted while revising my notes for my reading subject. I only used blue ball point pen to write my notes because I heard from somewhere that reading texts in blue ink will make it easier to remember ̶ though the validity of that statement is questionable. Well, as they say, old habits die hard because I still only use blue ball pen to this day. Most of my notes is written with bullet points with occasional underlines to emphasize some parts I thought of as important. I chose bullet points because it is easier to read rather than mind maps and long sentences that makes it hard to read it at a fast speed. Also, I find that studying while listening to music and speaking it out loud which is the aural and verbal learning style works best for me as it makes me remember more parts of the note.
Taking lecture notes is an essential part when learning in a formal institution whether it is in a school or university. By taking down notes, you could revise when you want to refresh your memory to prepare for an exam or a test that could affect your result in the future. Furthermore, taking notes will also help you to concentrate and listen more effectively in class as you need to selectively record only the vital points that could potentially help you in your studies. To conclude, having the skills to take notes would be detrimental when studying as it could either encourage you to study or discourage you because you don’t have complete notes to study.
WEEK 7
My favorite learning style would be the solitary learning style even though my learning style could change depending on my mood. I use solitary learning style most of the time due to it being the most convenient for me as I could concentrate better when there is no distraction such as noises and human movements. Furthermore, by learning alone, I could absorb information more effectively as I could read and learn at my own pace without minding others compared to when studying in a group where we need to study at a similar pace in order for it to be beneficial for every group member. In conclusion, solitary learning is the best method for me to improve my studies.

WEEK 9
Some might think differently, but for me, family is the greatest gift there is in the world. You could find new friends or new lovers but there will never be a new family that could compare to the one you’re born with. Thus, strengthening that bond would be the top priority if you want to keep the relationship between family members harmonious and full of love. I firmly believe that keeping family bond strong would bring positive impact on me now and in the future as family will be one of the people we meet the most. For example, I considered my father to be my greatest role model in my life due to his patient and caring nature. No kidding, my father is the most patient person I’ve ever met in my life. His nature drove me to strive to be as patient as my father although I still have a long way to go to be as patient as him. My family will be just as precious to me in the future, if not more because as we grow up, we would need the guidance and wisdom from our elders, especially for me as I am the youngest in my family. In conclusion, family is of the utmost importance in order to develop good personality and to grow up healthily.
